Destination guide

Where these transfers take you

Eleven destinations, each a different reason to be met at arrivals rather than to work out a train. Journey in a Comfort, Premium or X Class Cars from Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS), per vehicle.

Privora runs private, fixed-price transfers from Lisbon Airport (LIS) across the Lisbon region and up the Silver Coast — the city centre, the cruise terminal, Sintra, Cascais, Estoril, Setúbal, Óbidos, Nazaré and Fátima. Every fare is per vehicle rather than per person, from €40 to €220 in a Comfort car depending on the distance, one way — a solo traveller and a group of three pay the same. Premium Cars and 7 Seater Cars are also available Each price already includes every motorway and bridge toll on the route, 60 minutes of free waiting after you land, one child seat and an English-speaking driver.

  1. Lisbon city centre

    Journey time
    About 25 minutes
    Fixed fare from
    €40 per car

Humberto Delgado Airport sits roughly 7 km from central Lisbon — close enough that a private transfer reaches most city hotels in about 25 minutes, and €40 covers the whole car.

Lisbon is one of the few European capitals whose airport is inside the city rather than an hour outside it, which is exactly why the last mile catches people out. The historic quarters were not built for cars: Alfama, Bairro Alto and Graça are a lattice of steep cobbled lanes where a taxi may stop at the bottom of a hill and leave you to carry cases up it. A driver who knows which addresses can actually be reached, and which need the nearest square instead, saves the arrival from becoming the worst part of the trip.

The fare is fixed before you travel, so the queue on the Segunda Circular at six in the evening costs you nothing extra — a meaningful difference from a metered taxi on the same road.

  2. Lisbon cruise terminal

    Journey time
    About 30 minutes
    Fixed fare from
    €40 per car

The Lisbon cruise terminal at Jardim do Tabaco is about 30 minutes from the airport by private transfer, at €40 for the whole car — timed around your sailing rather than around the traffic.

A cruise departure is the one journey with a hard deadline at the far end, and it is also the one where you are carrying everything you brought. Both are arguments for a car booked in advance rather than a rank: luggage assistance is included, the driver knows which gate the terminal is using, and the fare does not move if the riverside road is slow.

It works the same way on the return. A ship docking early means hundreds of people looking for a taxi at once; a driver already waiting for you is the difference between leaving and queueing.

Lisbon Airport to Cruise terminal transfer
  3. Amadora

    Journey time
    About 30 minutes
    Fixed fare from
    €40 per car

Amadora is about 30 minutes from Lisbon Airport and costs the same €40 as the city centre — a flat fare to a residential address, agreed before you fly.

One of the densest municipalities in the country, immediately north-west of Lisbon, and the journeys that start here are people visiting family, arriving for work, or staying somewhere a long way from a hotel concierge. What they want is a driver who will find the right entrance to the right block at midnight, and a price that does not change because the address is not a landmark.

    Lisbon Airport to Amadora transfer
  4. Sintra

    Journey time
    About 45 minutes
    Fixed fare from
    €60 per car

Sintra lies about 30 km west of Lisbon Airport, roughly 45 minutes by car at €60 for the vehicle — close enough to reach directly from arrivals, and awkward enough by public transport that most travellers arrive by car.

The whole landscape is UNESCO World Heritage, listed in 1995 for the way 19th-century Romantic architecture was set into an older forested hillside. Pena Palace on its ridge is the image everyone knows; the Moorish Castle along the same ridge and the gardens and tunnels of Quinta da Regaleira are the two that reward a slower visit. What none of the photographs show is the road: a narrow, steeply climbing one-way loop with limited parking and traffic restrictions, which is why arriving in a car you do not have to park is worth more here than almost anywhere else on this list.

There is no luggage surcharge on this route as well, which matters if Sintra is your first night rather than a day trip.

    Lisbon Airport to Sintra transfers
  5. Cascais

    Journey time
    About 45 minutes
    Fixed fare from
    €60 per car

Cascais is about 33 km from Lisbon Airport at the western end of the Estoril coast, roughly 50-60 minutes and €60 for the car — a common first stop for travellers who would rather begin by the Atlantic than in the city.

It was a fishing town before the Portuguese royal family began summering there in the 1870s, and it still carries both halves of that history: a working harbour and a tiled old town on one side, grand seafront villas and a marina on the other. The Boca do Inferno sea arch is a short walk from the centre, and the wide Atlantic beach at Guincho, popular with surfers and windsurfers, is a few kilometres further up the coast.

There are two ways out here — the Marginal along the water, or the A5 inland. Your driver takes whichever is running clear, and the fare is the same either way.

    Lisbon Airport to Cascais transfer
  6. Estoril

    Journey time
    About 45 minutes
    Fixed fare from
    €60 per car

Estoril is about 45 minutes from Lisbon Airport at €60 for the car — the same fare as neighbouring Cascais, and the same run out along the coast.

Estoril and Cascais sit on one continuous seafront a few kilometres apart, but they are not interchangeable. Estoril is the grander and quieter half: the casino, the Hotel Palácio, the gardens running down to the beach, and a cluster of seafront hotels that take a steady flow of conferences and golf parties. Both are also on the same railway line into Lisbon, which is fine with a day bag and much less fine with three suitcases.

Arrivals here are often for an event with a fixed start time, which is the case a pre-agreed fare and a tracked flight suit best — and a fixed figure is easier to put on an expense claim than a meter reading.

    Lisbon Airport to Estoril transfer
  7. Setúbal

    Journey time
    About 1 hour
    Fixed fare from
    €95 per car

Setúbal is about an hour south of Lisbon Airport at €95 for the car, with every bridge and motorway toll on the route already inside that figure.

Getting there means crossing the Tagus, and the crossing is the part that catches people out on a meter. Beyond it the town sits on the Sado estuary below the Arrábida hills — a working fishing port with a serious seafood reputation, the departure point for the estuary’s resident bottlenose dolphins, and the way through to the Trois Peninsula beaches.

Public transport this way is a bus or a train and then a local connection, with luggage through all of it. One car, one fare, one hour.

    Lisbon Airport to Setúbal transfer
  8. Óbidos

    Journey time
    About 1 hr 15
    Fixed fare from
    €150 per car

Óbidos is about an hour and a quarter north of Lisbon Airport, direct on the A8, at €150 for the car with the tolls for the full run included.

It is a walled medieval town that has kept its walls: a single cobbled main street inside the gate, whitewashed houses edged in blue and yellow, and a castle at the top that is now a pousada. The town gave its name to ginjinha served in a chocolate cup, and it fills up for the Chocolate Festival in spring and the Medieval Market in summer.

Almost all of it is closed to traffic, which is the practical argument for being driven: a driver who knows which gate to use and where a car can actually stop saves you a walk uphill on cobbles with your luggage.

    Lisbon Airport to Óbidos transfer
  9. Nazaré

    Journey time
    About 1 hr 40
    Fixed fare from
    €200 per car

Nazaré is about an hour and forty minutes north of Lisbon Airport at €200 for the car — the coastal town below the canyon that produces the largest surfed waves in the world.

The waves are the reason most people now come. An undersea canyon runs almost to the shore at Praia do Norte and funnels swell into the giant winter breaks watched from the Sítio headland, up beside the fort and the lighthouse. The rest of the year it is a working fishing town on a wide beach, reached from the headland by a funicular that has been running since the 1880s.

On a run this long the inclusions stop being a detail: the tolls are inside the fare, the price does not move with the traffic, and there is no second taxi at the far end.

    Lisbon Airport to Nazaré transfer
  10. Fátima

    Journey time
    About 1 hr 40
    Fixed fare from
    €220 per car

Fátima is about 125 km north of Lisbon Airport, roughly an hour and forty minutes by car on the A1 at €220 for the vehicle — a direct private transfer that avoids the change of train and taxi the public route requires.

The town is one of the most visited Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world. Its Sanctuary grew around the reported apparitions of 1917, and the two landmarks most pilgrims come for stand at either end of the same vast esplanade: the small Chapel of the Apparitions on the spot itself, and the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary above it. The 13th of May and the 13th of October draw the largest crowds of the year, when accommodation and road access around the sanctuary both tighten considerably.

Pilgrims often land tired and travelling in a group with luggage, which is the case a per-car fare suits best — the price does not climb with the fourth or fifth person in the vehicle, and the driver takes you to your hotel door or to the Sanctuary itself, whichever you ask for.

    Lisbon Airport to Fátima transfers
  11. Porto

    Journey time
    About 3 hours
    Fixed fare from
    €440 per car

Porto is about 310 km north of Lisbon Airport, roughly three hours by car on the A1 — the longest route Privora runs, and the one where a single door-to-door car most clearly beats a train plus two taxis with luggage.

Portugal's second city stacks up the north bank of the Douro, with the Ribeira waterfront at the bottom of it and the port lodges directly opposite in Vila Nova de Gaia, where the wine has been aged and shipped for three centuries. It is also the gateway to the Douro valley, so the transfer is often the first leg of a longer trip rather than a journey on its own.

On a run this long the inclusions matter more than on a 25-minute hop: motorway tolls for the full route are inside the fare, and the price does not move if the traffic does.

Why Privora

The difference is in what you are not charged for later

Most transfer listings look the same until you reach the payment screen. These are the differences that show up on the day — on a transfer and on a full day out with a driver-guide alike.

One car. One fare. However many of you there are.

Lisbon Airport to the city centre, Comfort car, one way.

  • Travelling alone €40 Total
  • Two of you €40 Total
  • Three of you €40 Total

You are booking the vehicle, not a seat in it. Nothing is added for the second or third traveller, and there is no per-bag charge — so the figure you are quoted is the figure you pay. A group of four or more takes the 7-Seater, which is priced the same way.

  • The quote is the final figure

Every motorway and bridge toll on your route — the A1, A2, A5, A8 — and your driver’s waiting time are inside the fare before you book. Only two things can ever be added, and you choose both: an extra stop at €15, or waiting time beyond the free hour at the airport.

  • A delayed flight is our problem

We track your flight, so your driver works from the time you actually land rather than the time you were scheduled to. Sixty minutes of waiting is included and a delay costs you neither the car nor a surcharge before 60 minutes.

  • Met inside, not messaged outside

Your driver waits inside the terminal holding a name board. There is no rank to find, no car park level to guess at, and no phone call to make in a country where your data may not have connected yet.

  • Choose the car by your luggage

Comfort and Premium take three passengers with two large cases. The 7-Seater takes five with five large bags, or seven travelling with hand luggage — not both, because seven seats upright leaves about two cabin cases of boot. We tell you that before you book rather than at the kerb.

  • One driver, in English, all day

Every Privora driver speaks English, and the same driver stays with you for the whole journey — which on a three-hour run to Porto, or a full day across three towns, is a materially different experience from a dispatch queue.

  • Pastries, water, and someone to ask

There are Portuguese pastries and cold water in the car, which after a long flight is worth more than it sounds. And your driver lives here — ask where to eat, what is worth the queue and what is not, and you get a real answer rather than a leaflet.

Included with every Privora transfer

  • All tolls & road charges included
  • 60 minutes free waiting
  • One child seat free
  • Pastries & water on board

  • Free cancellation up to 24h

Frequently asked questions

Private transfers from Lisbon Airport — your questions answered

How the routes, the vehicles and the fixed fares work, whichever destination you are heading for. Questions about a specific route are answered on that route’s own page.

Which routes do you cover from Lisbon Airport?

Privora runs private transfers from Lisbon Airport to central Lisbon, the cruise terminal, Amadora, Sintra, Cascais, Estoril, Setúbal, Óbidos, Nazaré and Fátima — ten fixed-price routes, each priced by the vehicle.

Anywhere else in Portugal is quoted the same way, per car and fixed before you travel — tell us where you are going.

How much does a private transfer from Lisbon Airport cost?

Pricing starts from €40 depending on the transfer and car class. Check the transfers page for detailed breakdown

Every motorway and bridge toll on the route, 60 minutes of waiting after you land, one child seat and an English-speaking driver are already inside those figures. Nothing is added at drop-off.

Book the return leg at the same time and 10% comes off the pair. There are only two ways the figure above can change: an additional stop is €15, paid to the driver on the day, and waiting beyond the free hour at the airport is €10 per 30 minutes.

Is the price per car or per person?

Per car, on every route. The fare covers the vehicle and everyone travelling in it, so three people sharing a Comfort car into Lisbon pay the split of €40 that one person would if travelling alone.

Nothing is added for extra passengers and there is no per-bag charge. It is worth checking, because a low headline figure on a transfer listing is often a per-seat price that multiplies by four for a family. Ours does not: the number you are quoted is the number the car costs.

Because Comfort and Premium both seat three, a group of four or more travels in the 7-Seater.

How many people and how much luggage fit in the car?

Comfort and Premium cars take up to 3 passengers with 2 large cases. The 7-Seater takes 5 passengers with 5 large bags, or 7 passengers travelling with hand luggage only — not both at once.

That “or” is the important word. With all seven seats upright the boot holds roughly 160 litres, which is about two cabin cases. Seven of you and seven suitcases will not fit in one vehicle, so a group that size travelling with hold luggage needs two cars — tell us when you book and we will say so before you fly rather than at the kerb.

Choose your vehicle by your luggage rather than by your head count. Three people with three large cases need the 7-Seater, not the Comfort car, even though three people fit in either.

Can you take me back to the airport at the end of my trip?

Yes — and booking both legs together is cheaper. Book the return at the same time as the outbound and 10% comes off the pair. On these routes the two options are “Airport to [destination]” and “Round trip”, so the return is added to the outbound booking rather than bought separately.

When you choose Round trip, tell us your return date and time in the notes box on the booking form — that is where the driver picks it up.

Can you collect me from my hotel in Lisbon instead of the airport?

Yes we can, you can book a transfer from your location in Lisbon City to these locations as well.

The Fare will be the same and waiting time will still be the same but this time at your location instead of the Airport.

Can we stop somewhere on the way?

Yes. An additional stop is €15, paid to your driver on the day if decided last minute or to the company if decided earlier. Ask for it when you book — the notes box on the booking form is there for exactly this.

It is the same €15 whether the stop is a second address on the way, a supermarket run before you reach a villa.

If what you actually want is a day with more than one stops, that is a different product and usually a cheaper one: a private tour with a driver gives you the car and the driver for the whole day.

Should I book a private transfer or take the train?

A private transfer is door to door in one vehicle; the train is not. On the longer routes the public option is rarely just a train — it is a taxi to the station, the train itself, then a second taxi at the far end, with your luggage through all three.

The difference is sharpest where the destination is awkward to reach: Fátima has no station in the town itself, Sintra’s hotels sit above a steep, narrow one-way loop with very little parking and Óbidos is a walled town largely closed to traffic. It matters least for central Lisbon, where the airport is only about 7 km away.

Where the arithmetic turns is group size, because the car is one price and the train is a price each. Four people to Sintra is one price, four separate fares plus a taxi at each end is rarely close to that.

A transfer also fixes the cost before you travel, which a taxi at either end does not.

How far in advance should I book?

Bookings can be made before 24 hours, later bookings than 24 hours would not be refundable and might not be confirmed in rush hours or busy days, it is always best to prepare and book earlier.

Booking early costs nothing: cancellation is free up to 24 hours before your pickup time, so you can hold the car and change your mind later.

Do you cover destinations that are not listed here?

Yes. Any destination in Portugal is quoted the same way — one car, one fixed fare, agreed before you travel — including the Algarve, Coimbra, Évora and the Douro.

The ten routes above have a published fare because they are the ones asked for most often. Anything else is a quote: tell us where you are going and we will price the car for it.

If what you want is a day out or tour rather than a journey, ask about a private tour or a chauffeur by the hour — the same cars and the same drivers.

What is included in the fare, and what is not?

Everything needed to get you door to door is included — tolls, waiting, one child seat and the driver. Only two things can be added afterwards: an extra stop, and waiting beyond the free hour at the airport.

  • Meet & greet in the arrivals hall with a name sign Included
  • Flight tracking — pickup follows your actual landing Included
