About the Sintra Full-Day Tour

Sintra sits in the hills about 45 minutes from Lisbon, a town of palaces, gardens and forest that is a UNESCO World Heritage landscape. A full day gives you time to do it properly: Pena Palace, the gardens of Quinta da Regaleira and the historic centre, with lunch in the old town and no need to rush any of them.

The roads up the hill are steep, narrow and winding — your driver gets you as close as they allow, so you walk less and see more. The price is for the whole car, not per person.

Good to know

  • Tickets for Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira are not included, and neither is lunch. Pena Palace tickets are often sold for a set time — buy them in advance on the Parques de Sintra website and tell us your slot.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. Regaleira’s gardens and the palace hill mean steps and slopes, and the old town is cobbled.
  • Sintra is often cooler and mistier than Lisbon — bring a layer. Want the coast too? The Sintra & Cascais Tour adds Cabo da Roca and Cascais.

Can you pick us up from the airport or a cruise ship?

YesFrom your hotel or any address in Lisbon, from Lisbon Airport, or from the cruise terminal.

This is a full eight-hour day, so it suits a long port call. Tell us your ship and your all-aboard time when you book, and we will plan the day so you are back at the terminal in good time.

How far is Sintra from Lisbon?

About 45 minutes by car from central Lisbon, depending on traffic.

The drive is part of your eight hours, which still leaves most of the day for Pena Palace, Quinta da Regaleira and the historic centre.

Are tickets and lunch included?

NoPalace tickets and lunch are paid by you, so you only pay for what you choose to do.

Pena Palace can only be visited with a ticket for a set date and time, so book it before the day and tell us your slot. See which tickets to buy in advance. For lunch, your driver will point you to somewhere good in the old town.

How much walking is there?

A fair amount — Sintra is a town of hills, steps and cobbles. Your driver gets you as close as the roads allow.

Pena Palace sits above its park, Quinta da Regaleira’s gardens and Initiation Well mean stairs and uneven paths, and the old town is cobbled. Wear comfortable shoes, and tell us if you would like a gentler pace.

Can we add Cascais or Cabo da Roca?

Take the Sintra & Cascais Tour instead — it adds the coast to your day in Sintra.

The Sintra & Cascais Tour includes Cabo da Roca and Cascais and is from €350 per car. Something else in mind? Tell us and we will build the day around it.

What if my flight is late?

Waiting is free for the first 60 minutes after your flight lands. After that it is €10 for every 30 minutes.

Give us your flight number when you book, so your driver can follow your actual landing time. If you have a timed Pena ticket, leave enough margin after landing.

Is there a wheelchair-accessible option?

NoWe do not have wheelchair-accessible vehicles with a ramp or lift, so we cannot offer this tour to guests who need to stay in their wheelchair.

Sintra’s palaces and gardens are also steep, with many steps. We would rather tell you now than on the day.

Can I cancel, and can I book at short notice?

Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup. Late bookings are welcome whenever a car is free.

A booking made less than 24 hours before pickup cannot be refunded.
